Sue Barnes & Kris Rose – TEAM MYTDOG – Des Moines, IA

Sue first got involved with dogs in the early 1990's when she got a Rottweiler named Bria. Her appreciation for the breed led Sue to train and apprentice with multiple trainers to develop and polish her skills. After 10 years of part time training, Sue became E-Collar Certified and began training part time at a local dog training company. Sue now has a long list of training and competition experience from basic obedience, competition obedience, agility, dock dogs, and hunting dog training.

Although Kris grew up around dogs, she is fairly new to the world of dog training. In 2004 she met Sue and developed an excitement and appreciation for training as she and Sue traveled to multiple seminars and competitions.

In 2005, Sue and Kris got their first taste of Dockdiving competition with their German Shorthaired Pointer, Tanner.  They only entered one competition that season but sparked a passion to not only be highly competitive, but to bring the fun and challenges of the sport to others.

Their unique approach to training and competition landed TEAM MYTDOG in the Pro Finals in EVERY event entered in 2006-2007.  Their efforts paid off through multiple titles for Tanner, the 2007 Dockdogs Double National Champion (Master and Veteran Division), and brought them Top Four finishes at 7 out of 9 events in 2007. Tanner was also ranked the #1 GSP (for the 2nd consecutive year), #1 Veteran Dog in the US, Canada and UK, and recipient of the 2007 National Dockdogs Gracie Award. This team also appeared on the 2007 Outdoor Channel Dockdogs television series while competing at the Outdoor Channel Championship. Sue and Kris have built on their success and now share their skills and experience with a team of upcoming dogs and clients that train and compete with them on the National Dockdogs circuit.

In April 2006, Sue and Kris opened their MYTDOG operation in the Des Moines, IA area.  MYTDOG is a full time training facility that specializes in remote collar training and currently serves many clients from Kansas City to the Mississippi River.  MYTDOG is a full service dog training company dedicated to helping owners in all areas of dog training.

Waine Singleton, Owner – Sweet Corn Kennels – St. Anne, IL

Waine Singleton is an avid Schutzhund trainer, competitor, and breeder of Belgian Malinois. His passion for dogs began at the age of 9 when his father bought him his first dog. Due to personal circumstances, he was unable to keep the dog and it had to be placed with relatives. Waine spent all of his summers as a child training his dog.

In 1988, his Godfather purchased him a Rottweiler. Soon after that he was introduced to his mentor and very close friend, Gerald Rogers, who would show him the various phases of the sport Schutzhund - tracking, obedience, and protection. To Waine it was like peanut butter meeting jelly. A few years later Waine completed two Schutzhund titles on his Rottweiler, Benno. Benno not only earned two titles, he also earned a V1 rating and first place at the Chicago land Rottweiler Confirmation Show.Although Waine has participated in several different dog sports over the years, Schutzhund is the sport that drives his passion dog training. His current dog Chase Des Diables Nightmare has earned Sch I,II,III, Bh, Ad titles. On the road to earning these titles Waine and Chase have received individual accolades for High Tracking with a score of 96 and High Protection on three occasions with scores of 99, 98, and 96. In addition to his own dog, Waine has helped many people accomplish the Schutzhund III level. When not competing, Waine loves decoy work. In 2003 DVG Regional OFS certified Waine as a Level 2 (regional) decoy in St. Louis, MO. Out of 25 other participants Waine was the only one to earn Level 2 certification. In 2005 Waine was selected to work the front half at the Midwest Regional Championships in Tulsa, OK. The same year he was selected to work the Schutzhund I, II and III back half of the North Central Regional Championships in Madison, WI. In 2006 DVG National OFS certified Waine as a Level 1 (national) decoy. In 2006 and 2007 Waine was again asked to come back and decoy these championships.

You can find Waine every Saturday and Sunday training with the Kankakee County Schutzhund Club - a club that he began this year. After training is done Waine lets his hair down and enjoys long rides on his Suzuki GSXR 1300R motorcycle and spending time with family.

Bill Monk – Good Time Kennels – Zanesville, OH

Bill’s love for the outdoors began at a young age while accompanying his dad and grandfather either hunting or fishing in Ohio at their family cabin or a local river or farm pond. Every year Bill and his father would take a few days off school and go deer hunting. Once Bill was old enough to carry his own gun, his dad introduced him to Pheasant Hunting.
On Thanksgiving Day each year Bill, his dad and family friends would take to the fields. Not knowing any different, Bill learned to hunt birds the hard way. Bill hunted birds for nearly fifteen years without dogs and after moving to Iowa in 1996 Bill was introduced to hunting birds with a quality bird dog. It took him another three years to get one of his own and now he can’t imagine hunting any other way.
In 2002, Bill and his wife, Tina, made the decision to move closer to family and return to their childhood home in Ohio. Bill and the family returned home with a young German Shorthair puppy (Top Gun “Good Time” Charlie) and quickly realized that they were not in Iowa any longer and the wild bird population in Ohio was not what it use to be. At that time Bill started exploring ways to spend time with his family and his dog. Bill became involved in NAVHDA, AKC Hunt Test and AKC Field Trials and has been very successful in each.
Nearly five years later Bill is now a Licensed AKC Judge and serious competitor in pointing dog field trials and hunt test all over the country. To date Bill has finished 2 AKC Field Champions and Amateur Field Champions and 1 National Amateur Gun Dog Champion. Bill has accumulated over 50 placements and wins and several passing scores in AKC Master and Junior Hunt Test. Bill credits a lot of his success to the love and support of his wife, Tina, and three sons, Wiley, Owen and Ian, and trains and conditions his dogs with his sons and close friends on his “Good Time” farm in Zanesville, Ohio. Bill’s passion for the outdoors and his obsession to win will allow him to leave his mark in the pointing dog world for many years to come.

Todd Sterrett – Arrowhead Kennels – Hudson, IA

Todd’s passion for hunting began as a young child when he tagged along on pheasant hunting trips with his father and grandfather. As he grew older, his hunting passion developed an enthusiasm for retrievers and eventually led him to seek a full-time job training hunting dogs. Now with almost 10 years professional training experience, Todd brings tremendous familiarity and knowledge of retrievers to his training approach. He participates in AKC Hunt Tests throughout the spring and summer, handling many client dogs and some of his own. Todd encourages you to come out for training sessions while your dog is being trained at Arrowhead Kennels. He believes that the training process for you as a handler is just as important as the training your dog is receiving.
The training philosophy Todd remains faithful to is “every dog is different and must be treated as a unique animal with unique training needs”. There is no defined pace for when a dog has to complete certain drills or hit certain training levels. Todd loves the challenges that come with every dog he trains, and the individuality of every dog constantly gives him a new outlook on different training techniques.
Todd is a member of both the Mid-Iowa Retriever Club and Eastern Iowa Hunting Retriever Association. He has participated in their hunt tests and club trials either by competing with dogs or judging various tests. He has also performed seminars for club members on various training techniques and drills.
Todd, his wife, Heather, and two children, Morgan and Drew, all enjoy participating in the kennel business from helping with boarding and training to raising lab puppies.
